This demo shows how you can use a large background image instead of a bunch of tiles. This is ideal for unique visual maps that are 150x150 (with 32x32 tile size) or less. A map larger than that should probably not use this method. Perhaps an expanded version of this where the background is split up into multiple sections could be used for larger maps.
